We all know that Google collects a ton of data, so much so that you might not even know. It uses most of it for advertising purposes and for providing you with a so called "better experience." The sad thing is that it has gotten too much into our lives that it's nearly impossible for one to get rid of Google. So here's a short guide on to get rid of Google collecting massive amounts of Data.

The Browser

One place where Google is absolutely the best is in the browser market. It's the best browser in terms of speed and looks. Luckily there are some good alternatives to Google's Google Chrome. The best 2 being Mozilla's Firefox and Microsoft's Edge. These 2 browsers are one of the fast browsers out there.

Change From Chrome To Firefox

They compete with Chrome's speed as well. However we'd recommend to go for Firefox as it's open-source, and doesn't collect much data compared to Chrome and Edge. Firefox is also known very well utilizing hardware resources compared to Edge, but Chrome does this better, even if doesn't run faster than Firefox. Overall the browser is easily replaceable!

Search Engine

Google's search engine is something that millions of people use everyday. Let's face it, Google's search engine is the best. But we have an alternative that's good enough for many.

DuckDuckGo is a privacy focused search engine that claims not to store your data. Its open-source and it earns by donations and placing some ads in your search results. DuckDuckGo itself is a pretty cool search engine as you can customize it and it has some extra features that Google doesn't. We use it everyday instead of Google and most of the time it works really well. But sometimes it isn't capable of telling things quickly like currency rates. Sometime it does and sometimes it doesn't. Other then that it does a pretty good job replacing Google. So its a replaceable field.

Email

Google has the best email service out there. Gmail, has some of the best filtering techniques out there, and it's easily the best service you can get. But its still replaceable by other services like Proton-mail, Hot-mail and Yahoo mail. Proton Mail however is a paid service! You may not get nearly as good Spam filters but Gmail is replaceable.

Video Sharing

This is something that's irreplaceable. YouTube is just the best video sharing platform out there, it has a ton of high quality content creators, high quality videos and an amazing platform.

YouTube is a massive platform and one can also earn from it. There are a few alternatives but they aren’t even near to YouTube’s quality. There are platforms like Vimeo and Daily-motion but they don’t have a good interface like YouTube and enough content creators to make it as good as YouTube. Instagram did recently introduce IGTV for which hopes are high but as of now it’s not even close to YouTube as it lacks content creators and a good system like YouTube! So without a doubt you can’t replace YouTube with any other service yet.

Mobile Phones

Maybe you didn’t know but Android is a sub-company by Google, and Google also collects some data from it even though its open source, however the data collected is for bug fixes and not for Ads.

But Google is still there! The best alternative to this is Apple’s Iphone. Iphones are generally more expensive then Android but, by using iOS you can get rid of Google pretty easily!

Cloud Services

If you didn’t know Google is also known for giving cloud services, this isn’t something everyone uses but it’s still cool to know about. Google’s Cloud Platform is pretty easy to replace as well. There are 2 major players other then Google in the Cloud game and those are Microsoft and Amazon. Both of these companies provide cloud services which is as good as if not better then Google’s cloud platform.

Productivity Apps

Microsoft already owns a much bigger market share in this field compared to Google. By productivity apps we mean the Office Suite. Google does have Google Docs and other productivity apps but Microsoft’s Word is much better in many cases.

Cloud Storage

Google has a pretty nice cloud storage service by the name of Google Drive. It’s pretty good but it’s not the best.

There are a ton of cloud storage services that are as good if not better then Google Drive. Some of the popular ones are Microsoft’s OneDrive, Apple’s Icloud, Dropbox and Pcloud. Some services also give you more free storage compared to Google Drive.

So, yes there are many ways you can get Google out of your life, but in some cases like Youtube and Gmail, Google is still a clear winner.
