Smartphone cameras are becoming better and better as technology is advancing, but they are still quite not there on the level of DSLRs cameras. But again they can take some amazing pictures! But How?
In today's post we will be giving you some tips to get your photography level up!
Light is KEY
Light plays a huge factor when it comes to phone photography! If you don't have enough light your pictures won't turn out as good as you want. They'll usually have some grain to them, the subject won't be very visible. This happens because your smartphone's camera sensor is really small compared to full size cameras and so in order to get the best out of it you need to give it as much light as you can to get the best picture. The best light source you can get is sunlight. There is no better source of light than daylight! It's free and it does the best job.
Upgrade your camera app
Stock camera applications are good, but a lot of them don't give you full access to your camera, and so you can't tweak with a lot of things like exposure, ISO and others. However you can manually adjust these things using a third party app. Our choice for this is Open Camera. It's free, it's ad-free and it gives you ton of options to tinker with!
Get to know the technical stuff!
Photography has some basic terms that you must know about to make sure you are taking the picture with the right camera settings. We recommend you to watch a video by Peter Mckinnon a well know Youtuber who has excellent photography skills!
The Angle
When taking pictures angles play a significant role. They help make a boring picture to some what better looking. The angle always has to be good. For getting the best angle we personally recommend experimenting. Take sometime and take a few pictures with different angles and check which one turns out to be the best.
We took this picture from the Xiaomi Mi A1 with a good angle but a not a very goo subject. You can see how the angle effects the picture by a ton!
You can see what a difference can the angle make !
Use burst mode
If you're taking pictures of a fast moving object, you can use the burst mode of your phone to take multiple pictures at once. For most phones you have to keep pressing the capture button and your phone takes a lot of pictures together. This helps you to get a lot of pictures at once and so you can choose the best one later on!
Edit them!
If you really want your photos to look goo then you can spend some time on them and edit them using a photo editor. If you only want to use your phone we recommend to use apps using Visco and Adobe Lightroom.
But we personally recommend to edit using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom. The editing can make a huge difference to your picture as well. Below you can see how we made the picture we took look even better
