How I bought a broken phone, fixed it and sold it for a profit!

With the help of online guides by different sources like YouTube channel IFIXIT and JerryRigEverything it has gotten incredibly easy for one to repair a phone himself.

So, I was in search of a cheap phone that needed a repair. Luckily, I found a Sony Xperia Z2 for just $50 bucks, it’s back glass panel was broken and one side cap (used to waterproof the phone) was missing. I instantly bought the phone because I knew I could easily repair it and sell it for a much higher price as it was a previous flagship phone of Sony that was known for its good camera and its waterproof design.

And so, I did the purchase!

The next part of the puzzle to solve was to find the replacement back panel.

I knew getting the original part won’t be easy and neither would it be cheap, so opted to buy a cheap Chinese version of it. I got the rear glass panel for a very decent price which was just $5.5 USD.

So, by the investment I had done so far was just $55 dollars.

The next step to get the phone ready for selling was to replace the rear glass panel itself. I saw a couple of videos that showed how to replace the panel and tried to get the job done!

But I failed!

In all the videos I saw, they used a suction cup (a common tool for opening smartphones) but unfortunately, I didn’t have one and neither could I find it anywhere nearby. So, I decided to buy these phone back ring holders to pull out the old glass panel.

Luckily that was just around $1 USD as well.

I attached the thing at the back of the rear panel glass and luckily it was strong enough to help me open the rear panel glass after applying a generous amount of heat to it.

We’re IN!!

I put the new rear panel in and gave the phone battery and other features a quick test and everything was fine!

So, then it was time to sell it!

I listed the phone for $107 USD on an online classified. I expected people to negotiate so I priced it higher than I thought I would sell it for.

Just the next day, I started receiving messages about my ad. This got me all pumped. And so, after talking to 3 or 2 people.

I was ready to give the phone to a person for $93 bucks. Honestly, I was happy because I was still getting a decent profit.

So, I met up with the person, I showed him all the things and he was satisfied and bought it.

And that’s how I bought a super cheap phone and sold it for a profit of $37 USD. Though it’s not much, it was my first experience doing something like this, and I was happy about it.

I am confident that I would’ve gotten much more profit if I would have done the same process with an iPhone or with a Samsung Flagship just because of the brand.
